Teaches newswriting, reporting, journalism history, newspaper editing, depth reporting, feature writing, diversity, and publication laboratory courses. B.A., print journalism, minor in international relations, University of Southern California. Most recent position: deputy readers representative (omsbudsperson), San Francisco Chronicle. Creative/professional interests include multi-ethnic family life, diversity issues in journalism, campaign finance. As a reporter for the Associated Press reporter and the San Francisco Chronicle, wrote hundreds of stories about the courts, urban affairs, politics, domestic violence, poverty, affirmative action. Special awards, honors: Fulbright Research Scholar in Japan, 2001. Journalism Fellow, U. Michigan, 2000-2001. Contra Cost Press Club first- place award, "Feature Writing."
